Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania: Chamber of Engineers urges caution when saving energy

Schwerin (dpa/mv) - The Chamber of Engineers in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania has pointed out possible damage to buildings through thoughtless energy saving. "Today's buildings are highly complex and sensitive systems that cannot cope with changes in heat and humidity conditions without being damaged. Even in existing buildings and monuments, even the smallest disturbance can lead to damage," said Carsten Großmann, chairman of the Energy Efficiency Committee, on Thursday in Schwerin. The curtailment of heaters to save energy should therefore be checked with the appropriate specialist knowledge.

The Chamber of Engineers is in favor of equipping buildings with modern technology in order to reduce heating energy losses and prevent damage caused by improper ventilation. This also avoids disputes between landlords and tenants.
