Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania: Diesel thief caught: On the road without a driver's license

Dorf Mecklenburg (dpa / mv) - Thanks to a witness in the municipality of Dorf Mecklenburg near Wismar, the police caught a diesel thief in the act. As a police spokeswoman said on Thursday, it is a 17-year-old who does not have a driver's license and was driving an abandoned car. He and two accomplices are said to have tapped diesel from an excavator on a construction site in the Karow district. He was seen on Wednesday evening by a passer-by who called the officials. Fuel canisters were found in the car, and officers secured more canisters and a hose on the excavator. The perpetrators probably did not act very professionally: they would also have to pay for the costs of replacing the earth, since a large amount of diesel had leaked from the construction equipment. The accomplices are still being sought.
