Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania: Disney shipping company as buyer option for "Global One"?

Wismar (dpa / mv) - There could be a future option for the 75 percent finished ship "Global One" from the insolvent MV shipyards. Even if all sides are officially covered, it became clear that the US shipping company Disney Cruise Line is interested in the ship. This was confirmed by industry experts from the German Press Agency on Friday. In addition, several media in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania reported unanimously about the prospective buyer from the USA.

There was no confirmation from the insolvency administrator. Several options for the "Global One" are being worked on and talks are being held with several interested parties. According to insolvency administrator Christoph Morgen, a prefabricated building in Wismar is still the preferred solution.

However, there are still no binding contracts with a buyer. Based on the discussions, no information on the current status of the sales process could be given. In the event that the ship is completed in Wismar, the Meyer shipyard in Papenburg, Lower Saxony, is in talks about supervising this work. Meyer has already built several Disney ships.

Economics Minister Reinhard Meyer emphasized that the state and above all the insolvency administrator were making intensive efforts to find a solution for "Global One". "Discussions are currently underway, the content of which is confidential. It is also the task of the transfer company to keep specialists in the country. Every month counts," said the SPD politician to the dpa.
