Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania: Expert: Accused in triple murder process guilty

Rostock (dpa/mv) - According to a psychiatric expert, the accused in the trial of the triple murder in Rövershagen (Rostock district) is fully culpable. Stefan Orlob said on Monday before the Rostock Regional Court that he could not find any signs of a reduction in guilt or the waiver of criminal responsibility in the accused. According to the expert, the accused does not suffer from either a psychosis or depression. However, Orlob emphasized that he was not able to interview the accused in person.

The 27-year-old German defendant is accused by the public prosecutor of killing his 52-year-old father, his 25-year-old sister and four days later his 48-year-old mother with a crossbow and a garden machete in his parents' home in Rövershagen in February 2022. Two weeks later he is said to have buried the bodies in self-made coffins about ten kilometers away in a field near Roggentin (Rostock district). After his arrest in late March 2022, the accused led investigators to the spot, as seen in police video shown during the trial.

The trial will continue on Wednesday. The criminal court wants to hear the pleadings of the public prosecutor's office and the defense attorney next Monday. The verdict will be announced a week later.
