Karlsruhe (dpa/mv) - Second division football club FC Hansa Rostock suffered their second defeat in the third away game of the still young season. Coach Jens Härtel's team deservedly lost 2-0 (0-2) at Karlsruher SC on Saturday and missed the opportunity to settle in the upper third of the table for the time being. Philip Heise (18th minute) and Malik Batmaz (40th) scored the goals for the home side, who celebrated their third win in a row.
With the same starting XI that had beaten FC St. Pauli 2-0 a week earlier, the Hanseatic League found themselves on the defensive from the start. The defensive bulwark around the two former Karlsruhe players Lukas Fröde and Damian Roßbach did not allow much at first, but could not intervene when they conceded the first goal. The long-range shot by left-back Heise from a good 20 meters landed in the bottom right corner, where Hanse keeper Markus Kolke couldn't hold it.
Rostock found no answer to the early deficit. The offensive didn't deserve the name in the first half. And when Roßbach also made a major mistake, a preliminary decision had already been made in the duel between the two former Bundesliga clubs at the break.
Haertel reacted and brought in three new players for the attacking department after the restart, including new signing Lukas Hinterseer for striker John Verhoek. Visually, the measure had an effect, but not countably. Hansa got into the game better, but the efforts didn't result in any compelling goal opportunities.
