Neubrandenburg (dpa / mv) - With a shock call, fraudsters in the north-east have again robbed a senior citizen of money. The perpetrators called the 83-year-old woman from Neubrandenburg on Friday and pretended to be police officers, the police said. Accordingly, they faked the serious traffic accident of a close family member of the woman, who now needs money for a bail. The woman then handed over several thousand euros to the unknown. Her son discovered the fraud and reported it to the police.
In such cases, those affected should reassure themselves with their relatives, the police advised. If in doubt, they should contact the police and under no circumstances hand over assets to strangers.
