The hospital announced this, said a spokesman for the Stralsund public prosecutor's office on Wednesday. The exact circumstances of the violent attack have not yet been clarified, as the 26-year-old suspect has so far remained silent on the allegations. The injured party from Poland should be heard in the next few days.
The suspect is charged with attempted manslaughter. He is said to have suddenly injured the other man in the neck with a knife in front of the station in front of witnesses. The 26-year-old fled and was caught shortly afterwards in the Greifswald ramparts. The suspected murder weapon, the discarded knife, was also found.
Both men are said to have had no permanent residence and, according to the prosecutor, were previously seen together at the train station. There is no evidence of robbery or xenophobic motives.
