Torgelow (dpa / mv) - Two men brutally beat up a man in Torgelow (Vorpommern-Greifswald district) with a baton similar to a baseball bat. He is in the hospital with serious injuries, police said. According to initial findings, there was a dispute between a 20-year-old, a 19-year-old and a 41-year-old in the parking lot of a supermarket on Thursday evening.
The 20-year-old is said to have fetched the striking tool during the argument, after which he and the 19-year-old hit the victim. When the 41-year-old was already on the ground, the 20-year-old continued to hit him with it. According to the police, both perpetrators then fled in a car. The victim was taken to a hospital by helicopter.
The two men have been arrested and are now facing charges of causing serious bodily harm. The 20-year-old was tested for alcohol and other drug use.
