Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania: Museum of the city of Güstrow is given five paintings

Güstrow (dpa / mv) - The museum of the city of Güstrow (Rostock district) receives a donation of five paintings for its collection of Güstrow portraits and views. The pictures come from the possession of a woman from Berlin, whose husband comes from a Güstrower family, as the city administration announced on Monday. The glasses company Fielmann paid for the pictures. They should be handed over next Monday.

The donation includes important works by two artists from the 19th and 20th centuries. Three portraits of Güstrow citizens date from around 1840 - they were created by the portrait painter Ludwig Hückstädt (1805-1857). They are of high artistic quality. According to the information, the other two pictures show views of the city: the Glevin Gate from 1929 and the Güstrower parish church from 1946 by Wilhelm Eberhardt (1875-1946).
