Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania: Neurological emergency room moves to the emergency center

Rostock (dpa/mv) - The Rostock University Medical Center (UMR) is continuing to centralize its emergency care. From March, neurological emergencies such as strokes should also be treated in the University Emergency Center (UNZ) in Schillingallee, Unimedizin announced on Friday. So far, such emergencies have been treated on the other side of the Warnow in Gehlsdorf.

At the beginning of last year, the UNZ was opened after several years of construction. At that time, Schwerin Finance Minister Heiko Geue (SPD) spoke of the largest and most complex construction project in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, for which the state had invested more than 185 million euros.

According to the UMR, the neurological intensive care and monitoring station can also be found here. In addition, other specialist areas are close by. In the neurology department in Gehlsdorf, patients who are not emergencies should continue to be treated.
