Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania: Seawolves coach praises offensive after victory in Braunschweig

Rostock (dpa/mv) - After the 87:71 success of the Rostock Seawolves at the Löwen Braunschweig in the last game of the basketball Bundesliga before the international break, Christian Held drew a predominantly positive conclusion. "Congratulations to my team. I think the boys did an excellent job and implemented the game plan very well," said the head coach of his team's performance against Lower Saxony, who are threatened with relegation, on Wednesday evening.

The 34-year-old referred to the good defensive work of his team, but also praised the recently unsatisfactory offensive performance. "We finally managed to execute better than in the last few games - even if we still had problems here and there because Braunschweig defended very intensively and well." Nevertheless, the promoted team had temporarily led by 27 points and only gave up an even clearer success in the last quarter.

However, Held described the victory in Braunschweig as "important". After the Mecklenburgers had previously lost to Oldenburg and Bonn, they recorded their tenth success in the 21st BBL game in Braunschweig. The 11th-placed Seawolves thus kept their playoff chances intact, while they are ten points clear of the relegation zone with 13 games remaining.

The Seawolves have to play the next game on March 4th (6:00 p.m.) at the Mitteldeutscher Basketball Club. On March 12th (3 p.m.) Crailsheim will be a guest in the Stadthalle. Two teams that are behind the Rostockers in the table.
