Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania: Seawolves receive a lesson from champion Alba in the top game

Rostock (dpa / mv) - The winning streak of the Rostock Seawolves in the basketball Bundesliga is over. In the surprising top duel of the fifth game day against Alba Berlin, the promoted team had to admit defeat to the defending champion on Sunday in front of 4700 fans in the StadtHalle with 70:104 (36:46). Rostock had previously won four times, for the guests it was the fifth triumph in a row. The best Seawolves pitcher was Tyler Nelson (13).

The first points of the game went to Rostock's currently best pitcher: Derrick Alston, who sunk two free throws to take the lead. Shortly before the end of the first quarter, Alba was able to break away more clearly for the first time and distance the Seawolves by eight points. The hosts once again proved their comeback qualities and even managed to equalize at times, but then had to let the guests go again. Rostock made too many mistakes, and Alba was more effective with rebounds.

In the third quarter, the Rostockers then had increasing problems with the fast passing game of the Berliners and also missed some good chances. In the meantime, the gap grew to 23 points. After five points in a row at the beginning of the final quarter, hope grew in the Mecklenburgers. But the rebellion was short-lived, especially since Alston, who had been in good form recently, had not had his best day either and this time only booked twelve points.
