Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania: SPD calls for faster approval procedures in MV

Rostock (dpa/mv) - The SPD parliamentary group calls for an acceleration of approval procedures in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania. "In order for the transformation to a climate-neutral, digitized and competitive economy to succeed, the expansion of renewable energies, the creation of affordable and climate-friendly living space and the modernization of our infrastructure must be much faster," explained the parliamentary group leader Julian Barlen at the end of the winter retreat the largest parliamentary group in the state parliament of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania on Thursday. "Here MV has to show the pace of Germany." The first steps have been taken with the LNG landing in Lubmin and with the Wind Power Expansion Acceleration Act. Barlen also announced measures to be able to import various energy sources via the port of Rostock. Previously it was said that either oil or gas could be handled there.

The port in Rostock is also intended for hydrogen production, Barlen continued. "One focus - also in the investment planning of the state government - is the expansion of green and renewable energies in the field of hydrogen technologies." MV sees the current energy crisis as an opportunity and economic driver for the next few years.
