Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania: the person who caused the accident refused an alcohol test: reach for the bottle

Greifswald (dpa / mv) - A drunk driver caused an accident in Greifswald and then tried to empty a bottle of schnapps during the police measures. The 49-year-old rammed a car while parking on Friday evening and left damage of around 3,000 euros, the police said early on Saturday.

Although the man moved away from the scene of the accident, the police were able to locate him shortly thereafter. According to the emergency services, he was visibly intoxicated, but refused a breath alcohol test. When a blood test was ordered, the person who caused the accident tried to drink a 0.2-liter grain bottle and hit an officer, a police spokesman said. The emergency services tied him up and took him to a clinic for a blood test.

The results of the test were not initially available to the police on Saturday morning. An investigation was initiated against the 49-year-old for hit-and-run, dangerous intervention in road traffic and the attack on the police officer.
