"The ten-million-euro funding program is a classic case of well-intentioned but not well done," said Diana Behr, Vice President of the organization in MV, on Friday. Such systems are amortized after a few years at the earliest, so there are no short-term savings for private households.
In addition, the bureaucratic effort involved in processing funding applications ties up staff that is urgently needed elsewhere. Behr called for sustainable, effective strategies to counter the rapidly rising energy prices and thereby relieve private households and companies. Funding based on the watering can principle should not exist.
The red-red state government wants to encourage homeowners and tenants in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania to produce solar power for their own needs. A state subsidy program for photovoltaic systems (PV) on balconies is to start in October. The state wants to provide 10 million euros for this. The purchase of a PV system can be subsidized with up to 500 euros per household.
The chairman of the regional association for renewable energies, Johann-Georg Jaeger, had previously criticized the promotion of "balcony power plants". "Just a single modern wind turbine with 5.5 megawatts produces far more electricity than all 20,000 balcony modules together and costs about half the funding," says Jaeger.
