Altentreptow (dpa / mv) - Unknown people stole a camper van in Western Pomerania and set it on fire on Autobahn 20 north of Altentreptow (Mecklenburg Lake District). The police and fire brigade were alerted by witnesses on Tuesday evening because an agricultural machine was said to be on fire in a field near Breest, a police spokesman said on Wednesday. Upon closer inspection, the vehicle turned out to be a burning trailer. It burned out, nobody was hurt.
Initial investigations led to the owner from the Greifswald region, who had not yet noticed the caravan theft. The damage was initially estimated at around 25,000 euros. The location of the fire is about 40 kilometers south of Greifswald. The police are investigating intentional arson and theft and are investigating whether there is a connection to other thefts of caravans and mobile homes in the region.
