North Rhine-Westphalia: 19-year-old arrested while rolling a joint

Essen (dpa / lnw) - When he was just rolling a joint, the police arrested a man wanted by an arrest warrant at Essen Central Station. He also had two bags of cannabis with him, police said on Saturday. After his arrest on Friday afternoon, the 19-year-old was brought before a magistrate. The federal police initiated an investigation into the violation of the Narcotics Act against the young man.

The police checks on Friday had shown that the young man was wanted by the public prosecutor. At the beginning of the year, a court ordered pre-trial detention for allegations of having circulated counterfeit money. After that, the man is said to have gone into hiding for a few months. Railway employees had informed the federal police on Friday about a suspicious person near the locker facility in the main station, who turned out to be the 19-year-old they were looking for.
