Düsseldorf (dpa / lnw) - The Robert Koch Institute (RKI) gave the corona incidence for North Rhine-Westphalia on Thursday as exactly 300.0. The day before, the RKI had reported 279.8 new infections within seven days per 100,000 inhabitants. A week ago (December 8), the incidence in the most populous federal state was 239.0. NRW is still well above the national average of 239.6 (Thursday).
According to the RKI, 12,638 confirmed new infections and 71 deaths related to the corona virus were added within 24 hours in NRW.
However, the information only provides a very incomplete picture of the number of infections. Experts have been assuming for some time that there will be a large number of cases not recorded by the RKI - mainly because not all infected people have a PCR test done. Only positive PCR tests count in the statistics. In addition, late registrations or transmission problems can lead to a distortion of individual daily values.
