North Rhine-Westphalia: after a landslide: investigation of the demolition edge planned

Siegen (dpa / lnw) - After a landslide in a residential area in Siegen, experts should examine the safety of an apartment building on the demolition edge. An inspection by the construction supervision and employees of a specialist company is planned on the slope, said a spokeswoman for the city on Monday. Then it will be decided how the work will continue and when people can return to their homes.

Several residential buildings were evacuated early on Saturday morning because the slope had slipped over an area about 10 meters high and 30 meters wide. While most people were able to return to their homes on Saturday, about a dozen residents of an apartment building first had to be accommodated in hotels. Your part of the building was only about one and a half meters from the demolition edge, as the fire brigade's operations manager, Thomas Adamek, told the German Press Agency. Nobody got hurt.

According to initial findings, the cause of the landslide is said to be an erosion channel between two rock formations, as announced by the fire brigade and the city at the weekend. The endangered house is temporarily monitored by a security system that registers even the smallest of movements.
