Oberhausen (dpa / lnw) - Almost two months after a probably targeted attack with an explosive device on the party office of the left in Oberhausen, the police have ended the public search for a suspected witness. The man seen on a video recording reported to the police independently the day after the mug shot was published and has since been questioned as a witness. The authorities said nothing about the content of the interrogation on Friday. The man was not a suspect, it was emphasized.
On the night of July 7, an explosion destroyed the windows of the party office and neighboring shops, among other things. According to the police, the perpetrators, who are still unknown, had used a self-made explosive device. It can therefore be assumed that the attack was aimed at the party office.
Representatives of the left suspect an attack by right-wing circles. For the investigators, the suspicion of a political motive has so far been neither confirmed nor refuted.
