North Rhine-Westphalia: "Blackout": NRW crisis management team has alternative quarters in Münster

Cologne (dpa / lnw) - In the event of a longer complete power failure in the state capital Düsseldorf, the crisis management team of the NRW state government can move to an alternative quarter in Münster. "In the event of unforeseeable events, there is an alternative seat for the crisis team outside of the Rhineland," Interior Minister Herbert Reul (CDU) told the "Kölner Stadt-Anzeiger" (Friday). This is the institute of the fire brigade in Münster. The state secretaries could withdraw there if necessary. Around 150 specially trained employees from the Ministry of the Interior are also available to fill the crisis team.

In view of the impending energy shortage in winter, the situation is "serious - and perhaps more threatening than it has been for a long time," said Reul. The latest attacks on gas pipelines and rail networks show that the threat is more concrete than it was a few months ago. If the power should go out for a long time or there is a massive gas shortage in winter, people can still rely on the police, fire brigade and civil protection. The police filling stations are fully equipped with systems for emergency power operation. "We also have enough fuel tanks spread across the country to be able to react quickly."
