North Rhine-Westphalia: Corona incidence in North Rhine-Westphalia at 621.4

Düsseldorf (dpa/lnw) - The Robert Koch Institute (RKI) gave the corona incidence for North Rhine-Westphalia as 621.4 on Tuesday. The number of new corona infections reported within seven days per 100,000 inhabitants was slightly higher than last Tuesday (614.8). Two weeks ago, the incidence was well below 350. Nationwide, the seven-day incidence on Tuesday was 687.5, significantly higher than in the most populous federal state.

Within 24 hours, 33,287 confirmed new cases and 27 deaths related to the corona virus were added in NRW. The Minden-Lübbecke district (978.4) and the Euskirchen district (958.9) had the highest incidences on Tuesday. The values were lowest in Bielefeld (325.4) and in the Rhein-Kreis Neuss (359.1).

However, this information only provides a very incomplete picture of the number of infections. Experts have been assuming for a long time that there will be a large number of cases not recorded by the RKI - mainly because by far not all infected people have a PCR test done. Only positive PCR tests count in the statistics. In addition, late registrations and transmission problems can lead to the distortion of individual daily values.
