Dusseldorf (dpa / lnw) - An unemployed businessman in Dusseldorf has been sentenced to ten months in prison for a racist hate comment and a threat of amok on the online platform YouTube. The district court found the repeat offender guilty on Friday of incitement to hatred and disruption of the public peace by threatening to commit a crime.
The defendant had previously admitted to posting the comment: "Special rights and favoritism for black people everywhere you look. My killing spree is not far off." In the dock, he distanced himself from it and apologized. His defense attorney said he wrote it while under the influence of drugs.
The district court had already sentenced the trained businessman to 22 months in prison for incitement to hatred. He had had to serve almost a year of it.
Since he was free again, he has been unpunished and has not been noticed again. He also no longer takes drugs, argued the defense attorney. He is currently helping his parents and taking care of his grandmother, who has dementia. The prosecutor had asked for a year in prison without parole. The judgment is final.
