North Rhine-Westphalia: homeless man stabbed: 18-year-old suspected of murder

Neuss (dpa / lnw) - Six months after the killing of a homeless person in Neuss, the investigators have put a suspect behind bars: an arrest warrant for murder had been issued against an 18-year-old, the police and public prosecutor announced on Thursday. In April, the body of a 31-year-old man with two stab wounds in his chest was found in a temporary night camp in Neuss. Hundreds of police officers had searched the area near a freight yard for traces.

The 18-year-old initially acted as a witness and charged another man, who was then even temporarily held in custody, it said on Thursday. The more the investigations cleared this man, the more the 18-year-old himself was suspected of having revealed knowledge of the perpetrators in his incriminating statement. In the meantime, the evidence had become so thick that it was sufficient for the arrest warrant.

As an accused, the 18-year-old was silent on the charge. He himself is homeless and known to the police for various crimes.
