North Rhine-Westphalia: NRW extends corona rules

Düsseldorf (dpa / lnw) - In North Rhine-Westphalia, the well-known corona precautionary measures apply for at least another month. On Friday, the State Ministry of Health extended the Corona Protection Ordinance as well as the Test and Quarantine Ordinance until August 25th.

This means that the mask requirement will remain in place on public buses and trains, as well as in medical and nursing facilities and in refugee and homeless accommodation. Hospitals and care facilities may still only be entered by visitors with current negative test evidence. The testing obligations that have applied to date for employees and for new employees will also be continued.

However, the ministry explained that a test can be dispensed with in asylum and refugee accommodation for fully immunized people. The same applies in prisons, detention centers pending deportation and similar buildings. The new version contains slight clarifications in these areas.

The following also applies: Anyone who has tested positive must be isolated for ten days. After five days, however, there is an opportunity to test yourself. In NRW, a negative official rapid corona test or a PCR test is still required for this. A self-conducted test is not sufficient. According to federal regulations, free testing will remain free of charge in the future.

The corona provisions in the Federal Infection Protection Act, which were significantly reduced in the spring primarily at the insistence of the FDP, expire on September 23. They are the legal basis for protective measures in the countries and define possible instruments. Recently, for example, general mask requirements for events and when shopping have been eliminated. In view of an expected severe corona wave in autumn, the Federal Ministry of Health, like the federal states, is already pushing for a broad repertoire of protective measures.
