North Rhine-Westphalia: Starlight Express welcomes 18 millionth visitor

The fast-paced roller skating musical Starlight Express has been running successfully in Bochum for 34 years. Now the organizers welcome and surprise the 18 millionth visitor with a gift.

Bochum (dpa/lnw) - The successful musical Starlight Express welcomes the 18 millionth visitor to Bochum that evening. For the anniversary of Rusty, Pearl and Co., just before the 12.670. Edition (beginning: 8:00 p.m.) of the rapid roller skate show surprises and can look forward to a special gift, said the organizer of the German Press Agency on Wednesday.

For more than 34 years, the Starlight Express has been racing in the musical hall built in 1988 next to Bochum's Ruhrstadion, which is full of technology. On October 3rd, 2021, Starlight celebrated a new start after 566 days of a compulsory Corona break. From now on, the shy steam locomotive Rusty, the diesel locomotive Greaseball and the futuristic electric locomotive Electra fight again for the world championship of trains and the favor of the young, pretty first-class carriage Pearl.

As early as 2010, the Bochum show received the title of "the most successful musical in the world at one location" from "Guinness World Records" in London for 13 million viewers at the time.

Incidentally, since the 30th anniversary in 2018, the show has become more feminine. Instead of dad, the newly created mom has been driving across the stage since then. The main role is played by Reva Rice, who embodied the first Pearl on Broadway in New York in 1987.
