North Rhine-Westphalia: The man is said to have tried to push the police officer down

Münster (dpa / lnw) - During a police operation in Münster, a 34-year-old is said to have tried to push a policewoman down over a railing on the fourth floor. The man was arrested after the incident on Saturday afternoon. A judge issued an arrest warrant on Sunday for attempted manslaughter, assault on law enforcement officials and bodily harm, police and prosecutors said. The 27-year-old police officer had freed herself from the man's attack and was only slightly injured.

The policewoman and a colleague had been called to an apartment building because of a loud argument. There they were reportedly verbally abused and attacked by a tenant. When the two police officers brought the woman to the ground and fixed her, the 34-year-old attacked the policewoman and pressed her against the railing so that her upper body leaned over it.

"The act of the 34-year-old suggests that he pushed the police officer over the railing to push her off. This indicates that he could have acted at least with conditional intent to kill," explained senior public prosecutor Martin Botzenhardt.
