North Rhine-Westphalia: Three clubs honored for outstanding animal love

Düsseldorf (dpa/lnw) - NRW Agriculture Minister Silke Gorißen and NRW Animal Welfare Officer Gerlinde von Dehn awarded three clubs the Animal Welfare Prize of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia on Thursday. First place went to the association "Herzensansache - People for Animals and Animals for People in Need" from Grevenbroich, which supports needy animal owners with its mobile veterinary practice, as announced by the North Rhine-Westphalia Ministry for Agriculture and Consumer Protection on Thursday. Homeless or unemployed people can have their animals examined and treated there free of charge.

Tierhilfe Streuner took second place

"Animal rights activists are role models for our society. They invest a lot of time and money for animals in need," said Minister Gorißen. The NRW Animal Welfare Prize is endowed with a total of 30,000 euros.
