Cologne (dpa / lnw) - A man is said to have seriously injured his wife and two-year-old daughter in Cologne after a dispute. The 24-year-old suspect was arrested on Friday night shortly after fleeing the apartment building via a balcony, the police and the Cologne public prosecutor announced. The 42-year-old wife and daughter were taken to the hospital. There was initially no information on the nature of the injuries and the course of the dispute.
A homicide commission is now investigating the urgent suspicion of attempted manslaughter. The investigators had indications that the 24-year-old had to be placed in a psychiatric hospital because of a "serious mental illness", it said.
