North Rhine-Westphalia: woman found dead in apartment: search for suspects

Warendorf (dpa / lnw) - After the violent death of a 21-year-old woman from Warendorf in Münsterland, the police across Europe are looking for a suspect with an arrest warrant. It is not known where the 30-year-old is currently staying, police and prosecutors said on Monday. Accordingly, on Sunday a judge issued an arrest warrant on suspicion of murder, rape and robbery resulting in death.

"We have put together all the information that is necessary to identify a suspect as quickly as possible. Extensive analyzes of traces and data have been carried out and witnesses have been interviewed. When we compared all the traces available so far, the 30-year-old came into our sights." , says Frank Schneemann, head of the homicide squad, about the success of the investigation.

The suspect from Ennigerloh is said to have intercepted the later victim at the front door at around 5:30 a.m. last Wednesday (9 November) and pushed him back into the apartment with a knife. There, the 30-year-old is said to have raped the woman and then killed her. He is said to have fled with the woman's cell phone and wallet and with the EC card he is said to have withdrawn money from the 21-year-old's account.

According to investigators, the suspect is an acquaintance of the woman. The background to the fact is unclear. "The investigators have indications that the suspect is in another European country," said senior public prosecutor Martin Botzenhardt, according to the statement.

After the woman did not show up for work and was not reached by phone, concerned colleagues discovered the body in her apartment on Wednesday. The woman's cell phone was found in a quarry with a quarry in Ennigerloh about 20 kilometers away.
