An 11-year-old girl has died in Peru after spending two days in the ICU, according to some versions after having participated in a viral challenge. The Cayetano Heredia National Hospital, in San Martín de Porres, had reported her admission to the Pediatric Emergency Service on Monday and that she was in a state of brain death. A new part issued this Wednesday has confirmed her death.

The statement includes the organic failures but does not cite the circumstances that had led the girl to that state. In some initial statements to TV Peru News, the father maintained that he had ingested "ecstasy and cocaine."

"He entered the normal school at ten, supposedly he took that substance at recess, at 11:40 they started calling me. Some witnesses say he took two pills, one pink and one blue," the mother also said on camera.

However, other media advanced that the minor had received and ingested two pills with the intention of participating in a viral challenge. "This expertise will be determined by legal medicine," the family lawyer said on Wednesday.

After hearing the news, dozens of parents of other students from the same school, located in a district of Lima, have gathered at the gates to take their children while accusing the director of knowing about the drug trade inside. In a statement, the Ministry of Education has called "not to spread rumors or unconfirmed versions."
