Saxony: 3D illustration of the earth: artwork "Gaia" in Frauenkirche

Dresden (dpa / sn) - The art installation "Gaia" by the British artist Luke Jerram can be seen from March 4th in the Dresden Frauenkirche. The foundation announced on Friday in Dresden that the seven-meter-tall image of the earth will hover and rotate above the guests in the church room of the Frauenkirche for three weeks. The church connects the action with an urgent appeal for more efforts in climate protection.

Through the exhibition, for three weeks, the Frauenkirche will place a special focus on the uniqueness of the earth and how people deal with their irreplaceable living space. "The Frauenkirche is a place of hope. It shows what people can achieve when they stand together. Nevertheless, we must be clear: we don't have planet B. We can rebuild everything - except the climate," says Pastor Markus Engelhardt.

The project is supported by the Saxon Ministry for Energy, Climate Protection, Environment and Agriculture. Environment Minister Wolfram Günther (Greens) sees the project as an opportunity to arouse interest in the topic and create motivation. There is also a supporting program for children, families, fans of modern music and those interested in research; admission is free.
