Riesa (dpa / sn) - A 43-year-old was shot by a police officer in Riesa in the Meissen district. The man had previously rioted in his apartment and threatened officers with a knife, police said on Saturday morning.
Neighbors had alerted the police to the troublemaker on Friday evening. As the 43-year-old did not want to open his door, assistance was requested. Shortly before the requested special forces arrived, the 43-year-old suddenly stormed out of his apartment and ran towards an officer. The 33-year-old police officer then fired his pistol at the man and injured him. The 43-year-old had to be taken to a Leipzig hospital for treatment.
