Saxony-Anhalt: 260 million euros for motorways in Saxony-Anhalt

Dessau-Roßlau (dpa/sa) - The federal government wants to invest around 260 million euros in the renewal of the motorways in Saxony-Anhalt this year. Among other things, seven major conservation projects, three building renovations and two new construction projects are planned, said a spokesman for the East branch of the motorway company on Tuesday. Measured against the entire network, a little more than four percent are said to be affected by the measures this year.

The highway company announced that the construction season will start in spring. One builds under moving traffic and hopes for as few traffic restrictions as possible. The new construction projects include part of the A14 between Tangerhütte and Lüderitz (Stendal district). Traffic should be rolling there by the end of the year. In addition, there is to be construction between Lüderitz and Stendal-Mitte. Bridges, site roads and compensatory and replacement measures are planned.

With around 55,000 square kilometers, the East branch is geographically the largest branch of Autobahn GmbH. It extends across Saxony, Saxony-Anhalt and Thuringia. Since January 1, 2021, around 1,200 employees have been taking care of the planning, construction, maintenance and operation of the motorways in the three countries.
