Saxony-Anhalt: Almost 60 Nordmanntann stolen in Wernigerode

Wernigerode (dpa/sa) - Unknown persons stole a total of 57 Nordmann firs and tools from a Christmas tree supplier in Wernigerode (Harz). The perpetrators cracked a padlock on the site between Thursday and Friday, the police said on Saturday. Then they forcibly opened a storage hut at the sales site. In the end, the strangers stole a cutter knife, a saw and a five-meter-long extension cable in addition to the trees. Officials estimated the damage to property at around $2,000.
