Halle (dpa/sa) - Because she is said to have killed her newborn daughter, a 38-year-old woman is being tried today in the regional court in Halle. According to the indictment, the accused gave birth to a healthy girl alone in her apartment in December 2021 and left the newborn wrapped in a T-shirt near the recycling center on the same day. She was aware that the baby would not survive there for long and could not have been found there by accident.
The baby was found dead by a walker six days later. The mother is now charged with manslaughter. According to the information, the public prosecutor's office assumes that the 38-year-old has reduced criminal responsibility. The woman is said to have had an intellectual disability, which is said to have impaired her ability to control. The defendant has already confessed to the crime.
