Saxony-Anhalt: Corona incidence in Saxony-Anhalt increased slightly

Magdeburg (dpa/sa) - In Saxony-Anhalt, the number of registered new infections with the corona virus rose again slightly within a week per 100,000 inhabitants. The Robert Koch Institute (RKI) gave a seven-day incidence of 232.2 on Thursday. A week ago the value was 228.2 new infections per 100,000 inhabitants, two weeks ago it was 242.7. Nationwide, the seven-day incidence on Thursday was 239.6 (previous week: 214.2).

However, this information only provides a very incomplete picture of the number of infections. Experts have been assuming for some time that there will be a large number of cases not recorded by the RKI - mainly because not all infected people have a PCR test done. Only positive PCR tests count in the statistics.

The health authorities in Saxony-Anhalt have reported more than 936,824 infections to the RKI since the beginning of the pandemic, as the RKI dashboard showed on Thursday. 6085 deaths related to the corona virus were recorded. Saxony-Anhalt has around 2.18 million inhabitants.
