"The introduction of a ticket valid throughout Germany for local transport is undoubtedly a step towards thinning out the jungle of tariffs in public transport," said the FDP politician on Thursday in Magdeburg. "And it is just as undisputed that public transport will become more attractive with the new offer - especially in conurbations and metropolises." However, at the same time it is clear: "The question of mobility in rural areas remains largely unresolved and will continue to pose major challenges for the country in the future."
The ticket for 49 euros is to be the successor to the 9-euro ticket. The federal and state transport ministers had already agreed on this. However, the federal states had made permanently higher subsidies for their local public transport from the federal government (regionalization funds) a condition. The additional funds from Berlin should now be available. The federal and state governments agreed on this on Wednesday. It is still unclear when the Germany ticket will come. Federal Transport Minister Volker Wissing (FDP) had announced: "as soon as technically possible". Whether it works as early as January 1 is an open question.
