Saxony-Anhalt: Industry in Saxony-Anhalt is investing more again

Halle (dpa/sa) - The level of industrial investments in Saxony-Anhalt approached the pre-Corona level last year. The state statistical office announced on Tuesday that mining and manufacturing companies had invested 1.625 billion euros, 9.9 percent more than in the previous year. In 2019, the industry spent 1.7 billion euros on machinery and equipment, land and buildings. That was more than the ten-year average of around 1.5 billion euros at the time.

Different regional trends became apparent in the past year. In Anhalt-Bitterfeld, for example, the statisticians recorded a total investment of 262.5 million euros, an increase of 88.4 percent compared to the previous year. In Mansfeld-Südharz it was 103.4 million euros and thus an increase of 64.2 percent. The highest increase was in Halle with an increase of 135.9 percent to 100.8 million euros. There were negative trends in the districts of Börde, Harz and the Saale district.

All companies in the country with more than 20 employees were surveyed for the statistics.
