Magdeburg (dpa/sa) - In Saxony-Anhalt there should soon be no locally limited speed limit for cyclists. "As far as we know, no such speed limit has been ordered in Saxony-Anhalt," said a spokesman for the Ministry of Transport. The traffic authorities of the districts and independent cities would have to issue a corresponding order.
Last year, a Berlin district set a speed limit of 10 km/h for cyclists in a so-called meeting zone. Various road users meet in this area. Because of an increased risk situation, the speed limit was finally imposed.
According to the Ministry of Transport, such a regulation can also be implemented in Saxony-Anhalt. "Such speed limits" result from the road traffic regulations and this is federal law, the spokesman said.
