Saxony-Anhalt: State government adjusts budget draft to tax estimate

Magdeburg (dpa/sa) - Saxony-Anhalt's state government has adjusted the draft budget for the coming year after tax estimators expect higher revenues. "The volume of the state budget for 2023 will thus amount to 13,539,263,600 euros," said Finance Minister Michael Richter (CDU) on Tuesday in Magdeburg after a cabinet meeting. Three weeks earlier, he had announced spending of around 13.17 billion euros.

In order to finance the consequences of the Russian war of aggression against Ukraine, a so-called global overspending of 369 million euros will be included in the draft budget. The application of the debt brake will create the possibility of estimating a net borrowing of 273 million euros in the coming year due to the economy, it said. Next up is the state parliament.
