Saxony-Anhalt: Theater der Altmark starts summer theater series in Arendsee

Arendsee (dpa/sa) - Open-air theater with a view of the lake: the ensemble of the Altmark Theater plays its summer theater in the Arendsee monastery ruins. After the opening on Friday, the open-air performances of the play "The Complete Works of Shakespeare (slightly abridged)" are on the program until July 24.

In it, the actors Sebastian Hammer, Matthias Hinz and Paul Worms prove that you can "race" through 37 works by William Shakespeare (1564-1616) in a good two hours. Comedies, tragedies and romances are performed at lightning speed - and according to the theater this is not entirely free of pitfalls, for example with regard to the costumes. This year's summer theater also includes two performances of the puppet show "Der kleine Rabe Socke" on July 17th and 24th.

According to their own information, the Arendsee Monastery and the theater have been cooperating since the 2004/2005 season. The Theater der Altmark is run by the Hanseatic City of Stendal. It is funded by the state of Saxony-Anhalt and the districts of Stendal and Altmarkkreis Salzwedel. It mainly plays in the north of Saxony-Anhalt.
