Halle (dpa/sa) - Tourism in Saxony-Anhalt is recovering after tough pandemic years. "The number of guest arrivals in 2022 was 47.5 percent higher than in 2021," said a spokeswoman for the State Statistical Office on Tuesday. The number of overnight stays increased by 36 percent. According to the statisticians, the companies were able to book a total of around 3.1 million guests and 7.9 million overnight stays.
Despite the gains, the record levels of 2019, the year before the pandemic, were not reached. "Compared to the pre-crisis year, the number of guests fell by 13 percent and the number of overnight stays by 8.5 percent," said the spokeswoman.
