Chemnitz (dpa / sn) - The Niners Chemnitz basketball players remain without a win in the intermediate round of the Fiba Europe Cup. The Bundesliga club lost on home soil against FC Porto on Tuesday with 87:94 (45:51). After the second defeat in the second home game, the Saxons' chances of reaching the quarter-finals have fallen to a minimum. Max Landis had the greatest share in the success of the Portuguese with 23 points. For the hosts, Marko Filipovity (20), Arnas Velicka (17), Mindaugas Susinskas (15) and Jonas Richter (13) scored the most points.
After a balanced start (16:16/9th minute), the guests pulled away with an 8:0 run to 24:16 (10th) and extended the lead to 35:20 by the 13th minute. Chemnitz got back into the game with an outstanding third quarter and converted the narrow deficit into a 57:51 lead (24 th ) with a 12:0 run at the break. The Saxons were able to defend their lead up to 83:78 (36 th ) but then collapsed in the final minutes. Porto turned the game around again and drew eleven points in a row from me to 89:83 (39th). The hosts made too many simple mistakes, especially in the closing stages. They made a total of 19 turnovers, hitting just four of their 25 attempts from beyond the three-point line.
