"Energetic modernization must not increase the rent more than the later savings in heating costs. We want to abolish the modernization levy," said MP Juliane Nagel on Monday in Dresden, referring to an emergency program of the federal government with measures for a climate-neutral building stock. Apart from vague declarations of intent, there is no concept in Saxony that includes both greater energy efficiency and climate-friendly energy supply.
"The state government must finally get started. So far there has been nothing tangible apart from a forum on 'social and climate-neutral housing stock' with players from the housing industry," complained Nagel. Massive investments are needed, for which the Free State's funding guidelines would have to be revised in terms of content and better equipped. In addition to the growing energy and climate standards for residential buildings, there are rising construction costs, raw material supply bottlenecks and rising interest rates. This also applies to a funding guideline that is used to finance social housing construction in Dresden and Leipzig. Due to the increase in construction costs, the construction of a municipal company in Dresden is threatened to come to a standstill.
