Dresden (dpa/sn) - The Saxon culture senate has urgently requested improvements in the double budget 2023/2024 in the field of culture. The funds for the cultural spaces and the culture pact would have to be increased and the Corona aid fund for culture would also have to be continued into the coming year, as the committee wrote in a letter published on Monday to the parliamentary groups in the state parliament.
The funds not spent this year should continue to be available to cultural institutions and cultural workers in the Corona and energy crisis. In the current situation, art and culture are "not decorative accessories, but important factors in overcoming an immense social and economic challenge". The parliamentary groups are currently working on amendments to the government draft.
