Dresden (dpa / sn) - Saxony can implement further projects for structural change in the lignite areas. As the Ministry for Regional Development announced on Wednesday, seven projects have been approved by the responsible federal authority in the past few days.
In addition to the youth prevention center in Krauschwitz and the creation of a tourist infrastructure in Schwepnitz, the expansion of the drinking water supply for the Kodersdorf and Jänkendorf industrial parks, the implementation of a master plan for the Hoyerswerda zoo and projects for the Black Pump industrial park were also approved. In the central German district, the green light was given for the expansion of a day care center in Jesewitz and the multifunctional center in Thammenhain. The projects in the Lausitz mining area have a total volume of 22.9 million euros, in the central German mining area 2.6 million euros.
The sponsors of the projects could now apply for funding from the Saxon Development Bank. Minister Thomas Schmidt (CDU) said the projects are important building blocks to keep people in the region or to attract people from other regions. "In this way they make a contribution to making the regions attractive for the skilled workers of tomorrow."
In the meantime, 147 measures are in the process of implementing the investment law for coal regions: 44 projects in the central German mining area and 103 in the Lusatian mining area. "We are in a very good position compared to the other federal states," explained Schmidt.
