Saxony: Meyer Burger lowers production target for solar modules

Freiberg/Thun (dpa/sn) - The solar manufacturer Meyer Burger will produce fewer solar modules this year than originally planned. A total output of around 800 megawatts is now expected in 2023, the company, based in Thun, Switzerland, announced on Thursday. At least 1 gigawatt was originally targeted for this year - after a good 320 megawatts in 2022.

Problems in global supply chains for industrial electronics were given as the reason. The start-up of the third production line at the Freiberg site will therefore be postponed to the summer. In addition, the company wants to introduce a uniform product platform for solar modules. According to the information, capacities could be built up more quickly in the future.
