Saxony: Winter aid from Saxony for eight Ukrainian cities

Dresden (dpa/sn) - People in eight Ukrainian cities are receiving a delivery of relief supplies from Saxony. In addition to bandages, medicines and power generators with petrol canisters were launched on Wednesday, as the Saxon State Chancellery announced. The winter deliveries for the cities of Kyiv, Obukhiv, Halych, Irpin, Zolotonosha, Turka, Volodymyr and Vyshgorod should reach Ukraine in time for the Christmas season. The delivery has a total value of around 280,000 euros.

The transport costs are covered by the Saxon Association of Towns and Municipalities, the transport of the goods is carried out by Sachsenland GmbH with the support of the humanitarian logistics of the German Red Cross in Saxony.

"Saxony remains in solidarity with Ukraine, which urgently needs support due to Russia's merciless war of aggression, especially now in the cold months," said Prime Minister Michael Kretschmer (CDU).
