Soccer: VfB Oldenburg wins the cup derby in Meppen 5-0

Third division promoted VfB Oldenburg won the prestigious duel at SV Meppen in the Lower Saxony Cup. Four days after the 1-1 draw between the two on the first day of the 3rd division, Oldenburg won 5-0 (3-0) in Emsland on Wednesday evening. Jakob Bookjans (3rd/15th) and Max Wegner (16th) scored for VfB in the early stages. Justin Plautz (66th) and Affamefuna-Michael Ifeadigo (84th) made the Meppen debacle perfect in the second half. League rivals VfL Osnabrück won their first round game at SV Drochtersen/Assel 2-0 (2-0). The winner of the competition qualifies for the DFB Cup for the 2023/24 season.
